2010 was our most successful year yet, measured by almost any conceivable metric. The majority of our development time was devoted to iStat Menus and Consume with 8 and 9 releases respectively, plus countless Recipe updates.
Both apps are incredibly important to us and by their nature require a lot of maintenance—iStat Menus needs to be updated when new Macs are released and Consume needs to be updated when providers change their websites.
Consume is still free and will remain so for at least the short term. We want lots of people using the app. More users means more people submitting usage data and reporting issues, which in turn means a better app. Right now, that’s more important to us than short term financial gain. We announced Consume for iPad way too early, but I’m glad to say that we’re back on track and it should be submitted to Apple very soon.
Project II development marches on. We hit some significant milestones in 2010 and the game is already very playable. It’s a huge project and there’s been times where other apps and updates have taken priority, so we still have a long way to go. More details will be provided in the coming months.
2010 also marked the fifth year anniversary since starting to build Widgets under the iSlayer moniker. It’s amazing how different the tech and software industries have changed in such a short space of time.
We’re grateful for being able to do this for a living. Thank you for making it possible. We hope 2011 is a good year for you.
