Ping is a network tool used to test whether a particular host is reachable across an IP network (more information is available on wikipedia).
To use iStat’s ping, tap the bottom left icon on the Servers list, then enter a hostname or IP address in the first field and the number of pings you’d like to send in the second field. Tap Ping to start.
To ping indefinitely, enter 0 or leave the ping number field empty.
A history of the last 10 hostnames and IP addresses used is kept so you don’t have to re-enter the common servers you test. Tap history to see the history. When viewing the history, tap Clear to remove all the items in the history.
Tap Close to go back to the Servers list.
